Sony’s Thoughts: Trust in the LORD

Posted in: Southern Gospel News — Sony @ 2:13 pm

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct Thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Last week, I wrote on the peace that God can give through difficult times. One thing the Lord has also been speaking to my heart is on the issue of trust. Without trust, there can be no peace. I’ve been reading through the Psalms and it has been interesting to see how many times David talks about trusting God. Keep in mind that David did not live on easy street. It seems like most of the Psalms were written while running from enemies or being slandered, etc. Yet, he always knew where to turn. His faith and trust didn’t waver.

“O LORD my God, in Thee do I put my trust” (Psalm 7:1); “In the LORD put I my trust” (Psalm 11:1a); “Preserve me, O God: for in Thee do I put my trust” (Psalm 16:1); etc.

Because God has been speaking this to me, I recently got out the last issue of An Encouraging Word magazine and reread an article that I actually wrote a couple years ago. I hope I have grown to a place of more instantly trusting God in the past two years but I still hear Him ask, with each new bend I encounter, “Will you trust me?” As he extends his hand, I pray that I will be faithful to put my hand in His and say, “Yes, Lord, I trust You. Take me where You desire me to go for with You holding my hand, I have nothing to fear.”
