More Details on GVB Reunion

Posted in: Upcoming Releases — Daniel J. Mount @ 6:24 am

Over the past few days, more details have been mentioned about the upcoming Gaither Vocal Band Reunion taping. Wes Hampton posted on his blog that it would be a closed taping:

I know there’s been speculation on all of this, but I do know that it will be a closed taping. I’m anxious to see what Bill has up his sleeve. I know that he’ll make it a very memorable, fun, exciting time for everyone involved, and I’m so glad to have the amazing opportunity to be involved in this…it is quite humbling, actually. I know that folks, especially the hard core GVB fans (like myself), will be in line to get this video when it’s released.

In an interview for the Lakeland, FL Ledger, Bill Gaither also mentioned one other crucial detail:

“This summer, we’re going to record a Vocal Band reunion video. We’ll get 15 alumni of the band to reminisce and sing,” he said.

Among those alumni are singers who have had their own successful careers, like Mark Lowry, David Phelps and Russ Taff. Gaither allowed himself to guess what the alums of the band might say of its continuing success.

“There’s a lot of pride in all that. I think they’d say it’s good to see the old man is trying to keep the quality up,” he said.

What Gaither didn’t say is which fifteen alumni will be present, or whether that number includes the four present members.
