The Ball Brothers will be releasing their first major label project, Breakthrough, with Song Garden in early July. The project will premiere on the Daniel Britt and Friends show on Sirius/XM the week of July 13, 2009.
The project’s first radio single, “Glimpse of Your Glory,” will be available through Saturday night as a free download on this site.

A discounted pre-order of the CD is available here.
(A big thank you goes out to the Ball Brothers for offering this free download! I love doing this sort of thing!)
Amazon is offering a free download of a David Phelps track, “Silent Night” from O Holy Night: A Live Holiday Celebration.
The odd thing: It’s just an audience sing-along.
Much like Wes Burke (by the way, hat tip to Wes) and the reviewers on the Amazon page, one wonders what the individual who selected this track was thinking (and whether that individual was Phelps, someone at Word, or someone at Amazon). If the purpose was to promote the album, this is quite unlikely to be representative of the whole project.
This fall, the Ball Brothers are releasing a Christmas project and launching a Christmas tour with Roy Webb. To promote the project, they are offering a free download of one of the songs, O Come All Ye Faithful.
The CD is not yet available in their online store, but they have posted the tour dates and locations here.
They are also making available a special offer to anyone who will help them promote the events:
We’re looking for some people to help spread the word about the Christmas Tour. If you’re interested in helping out, send us an email. We’ll send you a link to fliers you can print out at home and distribute to your your church, family and friends. In exchange for your help with 20 fliers, we’ll give you 3 additional MP3 downloads from the Christmas project. Email contact@theballbrothers.com to get started.
Several times, I’ve had the chance to hear songwriters’ demos. I find few things more fascinating than hearing how an artist originally envisioned a song that has become well known.
It’s hard to say whether Southern Gospel Larry Petree is better known for occasionally stirring up animated discussions on Southern Gospel blogs and message boards or for hit songs like “Lazarus Come Forth,” “Still Drinking Water From the Well,” “Children of the Dust,” or “Praise God, It’s Settled, I’m Saved.”
Either way, his website links to a profile he has on Soundclick.com. On his music page, he offers free downloads of roughly 70 songs. You can play them without an account, but you need to set up a free account in the website to download and save the mp3s. Most of his familiar songs are on page 3.
Agree or disagree with his views, but most observers would have to admit that he knows how to crank out a top-notch song.
The Old Paths’s free download promotion has ended. Sound clips from each of the songs can still be played on their website, where copies of their recent projects can also be purchased.
I would like to thank Jeremy Peace and the rest of The Old Paths for suggesting and helping me set this promotion up. It was one of the most innovative ways I’ve seen a group introduce themselves and make new fans, such as this one and, may I add, this one.
This weekend, the Old Paths Quartet from Atlanta, Georgia will be the featured artist on Paul Heil’s Gospel Greats. In conjunction with this appearance, they are offering a special download promo to introduce their music to Southern Gospel fans.
For one day—from 9 P.M. today through 9 P.M. tomorrow–they will be making eight songs from their recent projects available to be downloaded for free, right here on SouthernGospelBlog.com.
To download these eight songs, right-click the links below. Depending on your browser, select either “Save Link As” or “Save Target As” to save the mp3s to your hard drive.
EDIT: This download has ended. Thank you to all who participated!
