Ball Brothers post samples from Vocalized

Posted in: Commentary — Daniel J. Mount @ 6:47 am

The Ball Brothers–one of this year’s Horizon Group nominees–have been working on an acapella project for the last couple of months. Now entitled Vocalized, the project is finally nearing completion.

If the song samples here and here are any indication, it looks like this project will be something out of the ordinary for an acapella project.  They are coming into their own and developing a distinctive sound that could well be around for a while.

It sounds good. Heavy processing but good. While I like the idea of having the drum tracks……it will probably mean that they will use the uber stacks live since they can stack them on the drum track. I am not totally against light stacks but I do like to hear aacapella music without them. That is sort of the point of aacapella.

I like it - but is it still Southern Gospel? This is what “Go Fish” (http://www.gofishguys.com) does (and they do it quite well, I might add). Go Fish is on iTunes if anyone cares to check them out.

I noticed that Go Fish is actually singing the weekend before the National Quartet Convention in Louisville. I wonder if they even know about NQC!
