A couple of weeks ago, the new 5-member lineup of the Gaither Vocal Band recorded a live video in San Antonio. We’re still months out from the release, but they have just posted a 2-minute 15-second preview:
Oh those DVD’s are going to be AWESOME! no doubt about it I am getting giddy about seeing these guys live at NQC, I really hope I can make it to the Thursday Showcase…
They sound great!!! Just a question, but does anybody else find it distracting that Michael chews gum when he sings. You can plainly see it in this short video. Is there a reason he does that? Dry mouth, etc.
I cannot tell you how incredible “I Believe in a Hill Called Mt. Calvary” was. David Phelps sang the first verse instead of Mark Lowry but the most memorable part was Michael English’s second verse. Oh my Lord it was awesome! The audience was on their feet the moment he opened his mouth.
And this little 2 min clip doesn’t touch the unbelievable performances that are to come.
I must admit they are good but my opinion is that a senior should
be in the backgroud and let the youth sing…The GVB is not the
same without MARSHALL HALL and GUY PENROD…I hope I did not offend anyone but this my opinion and I know that I may get
some flack so have fun with your comments…I still love you all and my JESUS bless you…Joe Sahadi
It is why Ernie Haase & Signature Sound Quartet is an excellent match for the Gaither’s Tour.
EH&SSQ attracts the younger crowds and the newly designed Gaither Vocal Band has a very strong young in heart base.
In baseball, they call it a twi-night doubleheader.
Gaither’s twi-night doubleheader is alot more exciting.
By the way, the only baseball I like is the Boston Red Sox’s brand.
I drove from Pensacola to San Antonio just to see this concert. It was worth every mile. What a concert. It has been a long time since I worshiped that much at an event. They were outstanding. This clip doesn’t touch what all took place that night. I CAN’T WAIT!
Again I am speaking out of turn but what I saw of the 2min clip a
awfull amount of theatrics that didn’t appear in the G.V.B when
my all time favorites Marshall Hall, Guy Penrod and Wes Hampton
performed…The stage presence,in my opinion, was lacking and Bill
should have been in the rear resting…Joe Sahadi
Linda Vivian: I love your reviews Daniel. This review just touched my heart in a very close personal way. I think you can understand that. It brought back so many memories from my “musical” past.... Cheri Baldwin (Mrs Don Baldwin): Great review! Thanks for sharing. When you “cut your teeth” on southern gospel music, it just stays in your blood. I will be hearing and seeing Gold...
Neil Enloe: So very true. Your questions are deeply probing and make me feel ill at ease and unworthy before God, but so very true. Your insights on the fellowship factor are right on, Sony. It is...
brady: Hey, Daniel. I’m curious to know if they considered this event a success. 113 isn’t a lot by a concert standard, but if they were going for an intimate little gathering, then it... Katie: I was at the Extra Mile event…It was such a blessing. I love Lauren’s new CD. Everyone needs to run out and get a copy or go to the Talley Trio website and purchase one.
Danny Marks: If you remember the Imperials from the time Jim Murray left in 1986 till 1993 there wasn’t a singer that was just tenor. There were 7 singers who took turns singing tenor &...
quartet-man: I discovered the GVB in 1987 possibly on my first trip to our Christian bookstore (well, at least by myself to buy something. I had been in there a few times with the family as a kid.)... Mickey Langdon: I have been a fan of the GVB since the videos started being sold. I love Guy Penrod and was sad when I heard the group were regrouping. But I have been to see the new group 3 time... Carolyn Knight: I have been on a Gaither cruise and to 3 concerts. I am beside myself over Guy’s leaving. Can you tell me where Bill & Gloria live in Alexandria? How do they get out of...
Scott Wiggins: We’ve got a great field of songs to choose from this go-around, but “He Locked the Gates” from the Kingdom Heirs is probably my favorite song of the past few years,... Josh: I’m psyched to see the GVB getting some love. It’s a shame they’re no longer eligible for male quartet. Let’s hope David and Michael make the top five. They deserve... Brad: I really hope “If You Knew Him’ wins song of the year because I think it is the best of several great songs this year. However, I will be surprised if any song other than the... Matt Baker: let me just say i am so proud of my buddy Dave Ragan for being nominated for 3 awards in just a little over a year on the road! Andrew S.: It should be interesting to see if the Hoppers continue to have their hold on their annual awards (Mixed Group, Female Vocalist, & Soprano). Am I the only one who found it... Mary Anne Moon: I’m with you Nick!
Jenell and Michelle Broom: Discussing last week how much we would like to see and hear you again. Took a chance and Googled your name and found this site. So glad to hear you are back on the road....
Daniel J. Mount: Oh, I see. Thanks! Stewart Varnado: Just to note… The typographical errors were only on the first 100 dvds made. I told Bill about it at NQC, and our next orders were precise. So, not to worry about that error...
Matthew Epperson: Thank you Daniel again for the mention of our concept website. We have recently done some redesigning. We are now accepting video testimonies on the site. Please check it out. We...

He said in an interview that I read once that it was because he had a problem with a dry mouth.
I sure do prefer the gum to seeing group members reaching for water bottles on stage.
Michael has been chewing gum on stage for years. He did it during his first stint with the GVB.
Yay, you put it up!

Yeah….I’m gonna be wearing those dvds out once I get them!
Thanks for posting this, Daniel!
I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for this release.
(BTW Daniel, I hate to plug myself, but I started a new SG blog. Its linked to my name.)
Welcome to the blogosphere! I just added the RSS feed to my Google Reader subscriptions.

I believe that everyone will agree with you that it’s not the same. Get different singers and it’s a guarantee that things will be a little different.
Some people will prefer the old lineup, others the new. And many of us will like both.

Is it just me, or do they seem more relaxed? Go back and watch the clips with Terry Franklin singing tenor… They seem like they are that relaxed.
