Gaithergirl, I just finished listening to the interviews and once again I agree with you. It certainly sounded like Guy was happy where he was. I also noticed that Guy was very humble and quick to say good things about the other artists who were there. Didn’t hear that from anyone else. Just an observation.
Actually, I noticed several other artists who spoke very highly of the others there. Wes Hampton did, of course. David Phelps did. Steve Green expressed amazement at the ones who had come afterward – that he didn’t think he could do what they were doing.
Daniel, you are correct, as usual. I guess the fact that Guy said he felt like he didn’t belong in the company of the others was what impressed me. Wes, of course, was thrilled to be there and always says nice things about everyone. And Steve’s comments were nice, too. I’ll leave it at that.
Daniel, thanks for posting this link to these videos. I was struck by Guy’s comments especially on #2 [I believe it was] how he has “done some solo work for friends & that was fun”. Could that be the beginning of his solo pursuit? Still, after reading so many posts on different blogs, even on the new Gaither Community site, things just ‘don’t add up’ for me. I’ve always been intrigued by mysteries & maybe I’m trying to create one in this instance of Guy leaving…I’m shocked by it yet, but am so anxious to learn what he will be doing [very soon].
pj: From what Bill said Friday night in Reading, Marsh will fill in until Michael is able to return. And, yes, Marsh did a great job! They all did, including David who was sick… Gene... Martha: That is so cool! I was very sad when Marsh left…glad to see that there aren’t hard feelings. Or at least not enough to keep a “reunion” from happening. Guymiddle: Marsh did a great job on Jesus Loves Me on friday night in Reading, PA. He really puts his “twist” on that old childrens song. He took the lead on many of the GVB songs, as... Butch: I was at the Reading concert last night. On one of the songs-I forget which one-Bill did one of his signature bass slides, but the last note was definitely not him. I’m sure it was... quartet-man: I have liked many of the Vocal Band members, but I will be at least partially disappointed if English isn’t there when I see them. (Not that I don’t like others in there... Greg: I was so bummed when Marsh left the GVB, he is a supremely talent vocalist. Those who are getting to see him sing with the vocal band are very fortunate. Daniel J. Mount: I’m sorry – I don’t know that. Cameron: Do you know if Marshall is filling in for the Toledo, OH date on March 20? Daniel J. Mount: He will back for a few weeks until Michael English is better. In my understanding, he’s still a minister of music.
quartet-man: I find the last few comments sad, perhaps with good motives, but misguided. To those of you who want to give free songs to reach the lost, what is wrong with your paying for them to do... Josh: I’m glad the preacher doesn’t charge me to listen to his message, though I willingly give 10% of my income to him. I’m also glad the church doesn’t charge me to listed...
Andrew Fountain: Daniel, this is one of my favorite groups on the road. They are extremely talented… and have remained very ministry-minded. Good review!
judy: I really enjoy seeing Mark Lowry back with the group. hope he will be a regular again. Although I miss seeing Guy Penrod with the group. I pray that everything is alright and he will be back...
Paul the Concert Guy: A side note…I was wondering if there might be a copy of the track to “He Could Never” that I might be able to purchase from Mark to use in church. I have... David Mann: Paul, I just told Mark about your comment. Mark said that you’re a good guy and he hasn’t forgotten about you. It’s been crazy here, but he said he’ll try to... Paul the Concert Guy: David, I would love to talk to you guys about having to quartet come to our church sometime this year, but have not heard anything from filling out the website form. Daniel J. Mount: I’m totally staying tuned—I’m just hoping the big things to come doesn’t involve anything lineup-wise, since you’ve got about as good of a vocal lineup as... David Mann: I’ve never sung with a finer Christian man than Dale Evans. He is going back to work in Knoxville, spending his evenings and weekends with his wife and children. We all love Dale...
These interviews were awesome! I especially enjoyed the
one with Bill and Guy talking about their wives! Great Stuff!
From the content of these interviews it was certainly clear
that Guy had no plans of leaving last July when these were
taped!
It is also very clear how much Bill loves “his guys” including
Guy and Marsh!
Thank you for posting a link to the footage!

Bill (about Larnelle): Wasn’t he great to work with?
Michael: Yeah, he was the best.
I guess what really struck me about these videos was the
respect and love all had seemed to have for one another.
I didn’t watch all of them yet, but I reallly enjoyed Wes’ (of course!!) and one of Guy’s and one of Davids. They are ALL great guys…
They all sound like class acts. Both on and off the scene.
