Songwriting Thought of the Day

Be original.

Just because a line was a good idea 200 years ago, for Fanny Crosby or Phillip Bliss, that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea for your song.

    That kinda reminds me of these big orchestrated ballads we have today, where half of the song calls back to the old hymn.

    let’s not forget how you can find “David & Goliath”, “the 3 Hebrew boys”, and the Red Sea parting in almost all of the Southern Gospel songs. if it doesn’t mention it directly, it may make some slight recollection of those stories.
