That was a great interview, Cody.....you certainly described the Weatherfords to a T as well as expressing appreciation for a lot of the old groups that I grew up with and still listen to on audio tapes and videos. Can't wait til you and Lily and Steve get down here to the Ft. Myers area. Hope you do more than 1 concert. See you soon.

I am a 75 year old fan of Souther Gospel music. I grew up listening to The Blackwoods, The statesmen, The Rangers, and especially, The Weatherfords. My favorite of the Weatherford groups was, Danny Koker (piano) Glen Payne (lead) Earl Weatherford (baritone) and of course Lily Fern Weatherford ( tenor). There has never been a group as smooth and harmoniously correct as they were. All of the Weatherford groups, but that group was superior. I know Lily Fern was partial to Henry Slaughter, and I too think he is a great piano player, His playing enhances the singers rather than to present competition. I have loved the Weatherfords almost from their start.... I probably have almost as many Weatherford recordings as Steve has. The group today is so reminescent of their past.... I love them. I get to hear them a lot in the winter when they do their Florida tour. (I live in Ohio, but I get to winter in Florida) Thanks for the interview and thanks for all of the Weatherford years... i love them.

Thanks for the interview, Gayla!

This was one of my favorite interviews I've done so far, because other than a quick "hi" at NQC, I hadn't really known him. So not only did I get to do an interview, I found a new friend. :)

Hidee Everyone,
Daniel and Cody, thank you so much for this interview! The Weatherford's are truly one of the most underrated groups of all times! I have been privileged to call Lily and Steve friends for quite a few years now, and it has been a pleasure to get to know Cody! He is a wonderful fit for this legendary group. Weatherford's albums are truly some of the greatest recordings you will ever hear..many are simply as close to perfection as one can achieve in a recording studio. I love and appreciate Lily Fern, Steve, and Cody! Happy Birthday Lily!!!
