David Phelps is a tremendous singer. I did think it was odd that they had Wes drop down at all. There was already so much talk when comparing Hampton to Phelps. Wes is a great singer, and brings a different style to GVB.
At the same time, however. I think putting David Phelps on tenor puts Wes in second place. Just my two cents.
It was pretty simple this weekend. Phelps was tenor on the songs he used to sing with the GVB, like Alpha and Omega. And he was lead on current GVB songs in which Wes was the tenor, like Journey to the Sky and Place At The Table. Phelps even sang baritone on Jesus and John Wayne. They were tight and sounded great. Phelps was prepared and seemed to really enjoy being there. A great show by all the Homecoming artists!
Brian: Looks great. Last time I visited I thought about how it could use a little modern sprucing. Thanks for the site…I’ve used it as a resource numerous times. That site has the...
Dawn Spencer: For sure GVB isn’t as good as it was with Guy. I would go see Guy in concert before GVB now. I think with Guy leaving it has or will hurt GVB ratings. Miss you Guy!!!
Meagan: This is a link to what I think you are looking for. If you go to Gaither.com, there is always a link to a promotional package recently seen on TV. Here is the direct link. Hope this helps!... Gail: What was the promotional 800 number that Gaither advertised at the end of the program on Hallmark today 11/20/09. It was 1-800-771 ????? I didn’t get the rest of the number. Did anyone... Bev: This is great especially since we don’t get any of the gospel stations on our cable. Meagan: I think this is a great thing. Besides PBS stations and country music stations, I do not know of another secular channel that carries Gaither programs or other Gospel music programming....
DeAnn: Burman Porter is one of the best out there. As it comes to PSQ being in secular venues – they are backing up Wynonne during her Christmas tour and then doing some SGM while Wyonne... Daniel J. Mount: I’ll say you can blame it on being 25 if you like. Blame it on whatever you like! Fact is, my reason is simple enough: I have no interest in any secular music. Amy Rogers: OK, well I tried! Usually people tell me I’m too young, so … Meagan: I agree, Daniel. I do the same, nowadays, also I have a small bit of interest in secular music as well. I enjoyed the harmonies of Naomi and Wynonna Judds when they performed as The Judds.... Meagan: SG is my primary love, but I do occasionally enjoy listening to other genres. Meagan: I can’t say that you can blame it on that as I am 25 also and I know of her. Good try though! Haha! Daniel J. Mount: Oh. And Burman Porter was hardly shabby, either. And Wesley Smith (now of Dixie Echoes fame). Amy Rogers: I clear forgot about Aaron McCune. I my dad might have some other PSQ music, historical relics by now. Amy Rogers: I only have about 2,000, and a portion of that is Primitive Quartet. (jealous pout) Daniel J. Mount: My interest in PSQ comes from the fact that they had an absolutely incredible lineup when I first discovered Southern Gospel in 2004—John Rulapaugh, Kerry Beatty, Tony Peace, Aaron...
Meagan: On the other hand, there are often people at Family Fest that do not regularly tour with the Gaithers. Benjamin: Let me start by saying that I am big a fan of EHSSQ. I attended an intimate video taping for their new Christmas album that will appear on the Gospel Music Channel this Christmas. There... martha: Sad that EHSS will not be with the Homecoming Tour when they come to New Brunswick this spring. (( But, I wish them the best non-the-less and I sure hope they continue to appear on some...

Boy, this makes me want more from David Phelps. What a voice! I wish he had stayed in SG! Who did the video and which concert was it?

Maybe it was Wes’s call?
Just a suggestion.
