Saturday News Roundup #130
Worth Knowing
- It’s now official: The Dove Brothers Quartet has announced a name change to The Dove Brothers Band.
Worth Reading
- Wes Burke discusses the definitive version of “If That Isn’t Love.”
- There’s a new Southern Gospel blogger at http://southerngospelthoughts.wordpress.com/. On first glance, it may seem odd that every review he has posted has a 5/5 rating—but when you realize that it’s because he’s revisiting the greatest projects of the past, it makes more sense.
- David Bruce Murray has a worthwhile history lesson, on why we call 33 1/3 rpm records “albums.” [EDIT, 3/16/13: Broken link removed.]
- Off-topic but worth the read: Voddie Baucham’s essay Gay is not new Black. Baucham, a popular Christian speaker who is himself black, focuses on the case for marriage being between one man and one woman, but builds a fascinating historical, legal, and cultural case along the way.

Here’s a clip of the Mark Trammell Quartet interview that has been making the rounds. Among other things, they discuss their upcoming CD, due out next month:
Worth Discussing
It’s open thread Saturday—you decide!
Just wondering with Nick Trammel joining his Dad, who will sing Lead and who will sing baritone.
I imagine Nick will be designated as the lead singer, though I’m sure Mark will continue to sing lead on some of his featured songs.
DavId Phelps just wrapped up a new Gaither taping this week. The GVB joined him on 8 songs too. Releases in October alongside a new studio record.
Thanks for sharing this video! Nothing like seeing one of my favorite groups being themselves on and off stage plus getting to see my parents in the audience! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
Just curious, were you already planning on featuring that video before I posted the link last night?
Yes – I’ve seen it in a couple of places and had it bookmarked for a couple of days.
Has anyone seen this video before?

That video above is the rob mills family. It was recorded last year at my homecoming concert (mark and andrea forester) at my church. You can see Jim and Melissa Brady in there as well as they were our guests for the night. The video has gone viral and has had over 350,000 hit in the last 9 days!!!!!!
Check out the Rob mills family videos on you tube. Their 2 teenage boys are unreal singers!!!!
Btw….. Rob mills used to sing with the kingsboys and the sound with frank seamans and Scott fowler for a short time
Hi Daniel. Had a question for you. I am going to NQC this year and have my tickets and I’m super excited. I know its a huge place with a lot of groups so what I’m wondering is, is it hard to find everybody’s record table? Thanks
Depends on the group. It’s generally easy enough to find the major groups that rent out 4-8 booth spaces on endcaps, for a large display area. It’s a little harder to find the groups who have rented out a single booth.
