Sony’s Thoughts: Remember Your Creator
First of all, I didn’t realize it’s been almost a month since my last blog post! There were a couple weeks that I was on the road and then last week, I forgot. I must be getting old or something. Oh well. I do have something to share with you this week.
Yesterday, I was pondering Ecclesiastes 12:1: “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw near, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them.” Most of you reading this may be past the days of your youth but, if you are, you know the importance of beginning while you’re young to follow the Lord. So many have regrets for the way they lived their lives when they were younger but it’s never too late to change and to make your life count for God.
As I get older, I’m very grateful that I have not wasted my life but I pray that doesn’t change. I pray that every time I’m tempted to fulfill selfish desires, that God will bring back to my mind the importance of focusing on Him. I don’t want to ever retire spiritually. God has a work for each of us to do and, as long as we’re on this earth, our job is to fulfill that task.
When you’re gone and people are reminiscing about your life, what will stick out in their minds? Will they talk about how selfish and uncaring you were, or will they comment on how kind, generous and thoughtful you were and how, when they looked at you, they saw the love of Jesus. For myself, I hope people see the latter. I want to be known as someone who followed Christ no matter the opposition or lack of popularity there may have been. I want to be an example to the young people following me, that they will understand the importance of remembering their Creator while they’re young so they don’t forget Him when they’re old.
In the midst of family get togethers and barbecues, don’t forget that Christ should be at the center of everything we say and do. Just as we cannot afford a spiritual retirement, we cannot afford spiritual vacations either. Have a blessed week!
