I should have mentioned The MMQ and KT&NM stint was after Heaven Bound (I think). Another note of interest Ken Turner & New Millenium ended up merging with Blackwood Gospel Quartet (where Derrick ended up later) but Derrick was with The Carolina Boys at the time.

I had actually thought that he was the one Carolina Boys member who was never one of the Kingsmen. I'd been working from the Woodsmen Quartet's press release (on SingingNews.com), which said he sang with the Kingsmen. I threw Carolina Boys into my summary, but I should probably have checked farther and dropped the Kingsmen credit altogether.

Derrick Boyd sang with The Melody Masters Quartet and then Ken Turner & New Millenium when he and another member (Roger Burnett) split from MMQ.
You may have been grouping The Carolina Boys/Kingsmen together since they had the same members during their name changes but they were never known as The Kingsmen when Derrick was on board. He replaced Jerry Martin in the Carolina Boys and was replaced by Jeremy Peace shortly before the group changed back to the Kingsmen.
He also filled in for Palmetto State Quartet when there was a big flip flop in tenors involving The Carolina Boys, Dove Brothers, and Palmetto State.
Derrick is a great tenor. As I've mentioned before, I'd love to see a Dixie Melody Boys reunion with him, McCray Dove, and Rodney Griffin singing togther again with Ed O'Neal. Gonna Praise The Lord Live is one of my all time favorite cassettes.
