Southern Gospel songs focus on many of the highest themes known to mankind—songs of Salvation, the Cross, the Resurrection, and eternity. But critics claim that they focus on these themes to the exclusion of other Biblical themes which are appropriate and perhaps necessary to address in song.

For Joel 2:28, there’s Jerry Bennett’s former radio single “Pour It On”
The chorus goes:
“Pour it on, let your Spirit reign down on me.
Pour it on, drench my spirit till it’s wet.
Pour it on, let your blessings (I think the next word is “splash”??)…. around me.
Pour it on, I want all I can get.”

The first verse starts out with this phrase:
“Joel said in the last days……..”.
The Hemphills did a song “Blow Ye The Trumpet” and it specifically mentions the prophet Joel in it
