I grew up listening to the CWG. I didn't know they were still singing until October 2004 when I saw they were scheduled to be at dollywood. My wife (Shelby) and I went to see them there and have followed them closely ever since. To us, they have no equal. There have been some changes since we started following them, but thank God, they seem to just get better and better. No reflection on other members because they were good also. When Shaye had to leave it was hard to picture someone taking over for her. My thoughts then I guess, with her being a family decendant, they are about to become history again because I had just really found them and was enjoying them so much. God still works miracles..Penny has been a God send..I'll tell everyone I love her, her wonderful voice, and the great job she is doing. They couldn't have found anyone more suited and with a great voice so much like Anna. She is such an outgoing christian person and it shows in singing and presentation..Penny, you are an asset to the CWG. To me they best sounding CWG group I think of all..Dave, Stan and Julie all are the best of the best. I consider it an honor to know them personally and to call them my friends!!
To repeat the statement above, the NQC really goofed up this year not having the CWG on stage..Hope they are in their right minds next year..Since this is Penny's interview PENNY YOU ARE AWSOME.. Love you and keep up the great work you are doing...I know you will... Harold

Like many Chuck Wagon Gang fans I was very sad to hear that Shaye needed to take some time off, but Penny is a great alto and a pleasure to chat with after a concert.

I first heard and met Penny at the Gang's Second Annual Reunion in Pigeon Forge April 12th. I was very impressed by her singing and her friendliness toward all us "Chucky Fans". Penny is a great addition to a great group.

Besides being talented Penny, Julie, Stan, Dave and Joe are friendly people with Christian hearts and minds. I haven't met Mr. Shonkwiler, yet, but I am sure having the same good qualities as the rest of the Gang is why he was chosen to drive for them when Joe isn't available.

I agree with many other Southern Gospel Music fans that the NQC made a terrible mistake this year.

It has been my privilege to drive for the CWG whenever Joe is not available. Change is difficult for any group and Shaye was a favorite all over the country, but from the first day Penny got on the bus, she has been great, both as a singer and traveler. She has made friends very quickly all around the SGM industry and is a lovely, vivacious young lady.

I'll echo what Scoot said. That move on NQC's part made absolutely no sense.

Wow, I'm gonna owe Penny dinner or something when I see her for the nice things she said about us. Hope she don't want Ruth's Chris. haha. I'm extremely lucky to call her my friend, even though she embarrases me when she bowls. :)

The CWG are the epitome of class, as musicians, and as people. In my opinion, they've never sounded better, and they have a nice program that flows well with great songs. It blows my mind that they were not on main stage at NQC this year. This group is an icon in SG, so lets get 'em back on next year.

Phil - You might be interested to know that 2 of the Greater Vision members also list Karen Carpenter as their favorite secular singer! Just a tidbit of info. No extra charge! :-)
