What are the best blogs by professional Southern Gospel performers? Which give the most insight into their day-to-day life, road life, or the recording process?

It’s not really a blog, but if you visit The Oak Ridge Boys’ message board, Duane Allen and Joe Bonsall post on their almost daily, and Richard Sterban and William Lee Golden post occassionally. Their interaction with the fans is unparalleled as far as online communities go. They may not take the blog approach, but they go into a lot of detail of what goes on during the day-to-day operations and behind the scenes, often in response to a fan’s question. They also are the only act I know of that openly accepts concert requests, then posts the set lists so fans can see where their request falls.

The ones I check daily are Wes Hampton, Keith Wagonner, Sheri Easter, Charlotte Ritchie, and Emily Sutherland. Sheri and Charlotte do not blog as often though. Usually every few weeks. Emily is not an artist, but she works for the Gaither company and offers a lot of insight and inside looks at Gaither Homecoming and the Homecoming artists, as well as other SG things in general.

Also, Sonya Isaacs periodically posts in her myspace blog. Recently she blogged that she is now a write for Disney Music Publishing.

I check Paul Jackson’s daily, and Wes Hampton’s more or less weekly.

Well, it’s good, but it would be even better if he did weekly updates like Wes Hampton or Keith Waggoner. Sometimes his blog can go 6 to 8 weeks between updates. There was one point I almost gave up and pulled it off my daily reads, but then he started posting again.

yea, he has not posted as often as he did last year.
but he always has something to say, when he does and
he has good audience of readers, that seems to be growing.
must be why you dropped him from your blogroll.

Don’t think I ever had him on my blogroll. I keep it pretty limited.
If I did drop him, it was during the 8-12 week period when he didn’t post anything, and I concluded he’d given up blogging. There are unfortunately a lot of neglected blogs out there.
Tell you what. If he keeps up weekly posts for a month, drop me a reminder (you know my email address) and I’ll put him back on.

Are you kidding?
I don’t think a time period like that exists.
You must be overreacting to something.
You certainly have not done any research to come
up with an assertion like that. I think I will take a look
at his archives…and get back to you.
If you wonder why I am that interested? I am a member in good standing of his church and his choir. I know without even looking that he posts 2 or 3 times during his slowest months. A dozen or so times in his busiest. That he has not missed a month posting since he started his blog in the spring of 2007.
8-12 weeks without a post? Impossible. How would something like that get in your head?
Don’t you guys write songs or something like that together?

Actually, no, we don’t write songs together right now. He did adapt a song I wrote for the Prophets’ debut CD, and he was maybe going to re-write another, but that’s all.
I went back and checked–I remembered wrong, there wasn’t any one time that long. But there were several 3 and 4 week intervals, some of them back to back, and I’d forgotten that there was one post in that interval.
