EHSS DVD certified Gold
Ernie Haase & Signature Sound’s multi-Dove Award-winning DVD, Get Away Jordan, was recently certified Gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Unlike Gold Album status, which is based on 500,000 units sold, Gold Video status is based on 50,000 units sold–still an impressive number.
In the press release, Ernie Haase commented: “We are blessed–blessed with a broad base of friends who believe in us and find some hope in our message. And so, for this achievement most of all I thank our fans.”
Someone did not do their fact checking before sending the press release out; Gaither.com, SingingNews.com, and Southern Gospel Reporter all referred to EHSS’s upcoming Dream On release as the group’s second solo concert video. No matter how you count it, the numbers don’t line up; not counting Together (with the Gaither Vocal Band), Dream On is their fifth or sixth release overall, fourth with the Haase/Seaton/Anderson/Duncan vocal lineup, and third Gaither title (after their eponymous release Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, and Get Away Jordan).

Then there’s the DVD with the GVB. Six total. And the first one (Live in Indiana) is still my favorite.

Yes..it’s ironic to emphasize that “figures don’t lie” in one sentence, and mention the group’s “second DVD” is coming out soon in another.
The same thing happened a few years ago with a press release describing their self-titled 2005 CD as their “debut release” on the Gaither Music Group label. It was actually their second CD released by GMG.
Of course, I’m not trying to diminish this accomplishment in any way. Very few DVD titles move 50,000 units in ANY genre. It’s a significant milestone, and one they should rightfully be proud of achieving.

Another nit to pick would be whether or not it’s possible for a GROUP to release a “solo” product.
I vote “not.”

By the way, IF _Get Away Jordan_ had been recorded in Chicago, the statement “recently taped their second solo concert DVD in Chicago” line would have been true (except for the solo bit).
Alas, _Get Away Jordan_ was recorded in Steven Curtis Chapman’s hometown of Paducah, Kentucky.
